Forged Silver Headpiece

These are a selection of photographs of my first ever forged silver headpiece.t first it was a daunting experience as the material was so new to me and it does not work the same as steel. However once I started and began to understand how the material moves it was incredible to forge. What was most enjoyable was the softness of the silver compared to steel. When forging silver I use the same techniques tools and methods as I do when forging my steel pieces. This is a important fact to my work as it emphasises my idea of precious vs. non precious with the question what actually makes it precious. I hope to answer that question with my work by treating each piece exactly the same regardless of the material used. Therefore it is just the design and skill that has made the piece precious.
